Global Collaboration Against Dengue: International Call for Proposals Launched with TÜSEB’s Contribution
The “Global Coalition for Local and Regional Production, Innovation and Equitable Access”, established during Brazil’s G20 Presidency in 2024 to reduce inequalities in access to vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics during global health crises, has announced its first call for proposals.
The call, which focuses on dengue fever, will support projects aimed at the development of vaccines, treatments, diagnostics, and enabling health technologies.
The Coalition aims to enhance sustainable access to health technologies—particularly in low- and middle-income countries—strengthen local and regional production capacities, and improve the resilience of global health systems. In this context, public-private partnerships, voluntary technology transfer, and knowledge sharing are identified as key instruments.
Türkiye is among the founding partners of this multilateral initiative and became a signatory to the Coalition’s founding Declaration of Intent during the 78th World Health Assembly, held in Geneva, Switzerland, between 19–27 May 2025. Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), as the official national focal point, actively contributes to the Coalition’s work at both technical and institutional levels.
Within this framework, TÜSEB has contributed to the drafting of the call text, provided input to technical evaluation processes, and promoted Türkiye’s capacities in clinical research, biotechnology, and regulatory systems on international platforms. This role further strengthens Türkiye’s active position in global health diplomacy.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease, commonly found in tropical regions, affecting millions of people in more than 100 countries, according to the World Health Organization.
Under the call, priority will be given to projects that enhance local production capacity, support technology transfer, and improve access to healthcare services. Selected projects will benefit from technical cooperation opportunities and access to international networks.
