API Technologies from Global to Türkiye and Development Processes Symposium
“API Technologies from Global to Türkiye and Development Processes Symposium”, which was held within the scope of Bioexpo 2022, was organized at İstanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre on 20 – 21 October 2022. President of TÜSEB Prof. Dr. Erhan AKDOĞAN attended symposium as the keynote speaker.
President AKDOĞAN stated that in health sciences and technologies that TÜSEB supports with its nine institutes, TÜSEB Türkiye Biotechnology Institute is in direct contact with drug development and TÜSEB Türkiye Vaccine Institute is in direct contact with vaccine R&D studies. He also noted that towards 2050, biotechnological drugs, biosimilar products and artificial intelligence technologies in health will increase the importance of innovative drugs that can meet the treatment needs of a wide variety of diseases in the society, specific to the patient’s condition. Prof. Dr. Erhan AKDOĞAN stated that TUSEB has made rapid progress in the R&D process by effectively using and managing the "Public-University-Industry" cooperation model in the development of domestic and national ventilators, especially TURKOVAC.
On the second day of symposium, Prof. Dr. Sevda ŞENEL, one of the academicians of TÜSEB, delivered her speech titled “Global Approaches in Discoveries and Development Processes of Biological Drugs” and Head of TÜSEB Project Management and Support Department M.Sc. Batuhan YEŞİLYURT “Preclinical and Clinical Research Processes of Biotechnological Products” at TÜSEB Session titled “Management of R&D, Preclinical and Clinical Processes in Biological Drugs”. During the session attended by public and private sector representatives, scientific and financial support of TÜSEB in drug discovery processes as well as biotechnological drug production and development steps were introduced.
