Meeting of the Organization of Turkic States Joint Health Tourism Network Held
The Second Meeting of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) Joint Health Tourism Network Sub-Working Group, held on February 6, 2025, was attended by Prof. Dr. Işıl MARAL, Head of TÜSEB Türkiye Health Policies Institute, Fatih KARADEMİR, Head of Foreign Affairs Department, a representative from TDT Secretariat, and representatives from member states.
During the meeting, various topics aimed at strengthening health tourism cooperation among member states were discussed. The potentials of Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan in this field were evaluated.
While Kazakhstan's health tourism development plan covering the years 2023-2029, digital health projects, and infrastructure investments were highlighted, representatives from Kyrgyzstan drew attention to the opportunities in the thermal tourism and cosmetology sectors.
While Türkiye's current quality standards and international accreditation processes were discussed, representatives from Uzbekistan raised the issue of cooperation opportunities in the field of health tourism.
Furthermore, the improvement of patient referral processes and mutual accreditation issues were also among the important agenda items of the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, a consensus was reached on taking concrete steps to advance health tourism cooperation among the countries.
