Scientific Collaborations Between TÜSEB and the United Kingdom are Strengthening

At the meeting held on February 21, 2025, TÜSEB Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birhan YILMAZ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat SARĞIN, Head of Türkiye Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Institute Prof. Dr. Şirin GÜVEN, Head of Foreign Affairs Department Fatih KARADEMİR, and Science Attaché from the British Embassy Robert EDWARDS, Head of UK Science and Innovation Network Pınar ÇELİKCAN, and UK Senior Trade Advisor Ceren ANGILI came together.

During the meeting, an exchange of views was held to strengthen the scientific collaborations in the field of health between Türkiye and the United Kingdom and to expand the areas of joint projects. In particular, TÜSEB's ongoing work in strategically important areas such as biotechnology, cancer research, artificial intelligence, and genome projects, as well as the United Kingdom's vision for international scientific collaborations, were discussed.

The parties reached a consensus on implementing projects that will elevate mutual cooperation to more advanced levels, in line with the scientific competence and infrastructure capabilities of both countries.

In the upcoming period, concrete cooperation steps are expected to be taken, particularly in health innovation-focused areas such as cardiology, personalized medicine, and vaccine development. Through the high-quality research and projects spearheaded by TÜSEB, it is aimed to bring Türkiye's scientific accumulation in the field of health together with broader international collaboration opportunities on international platforms, thereby increasing global scientific interaction.
