The Panel on the domestic Vaccine-named TURKOVAC

“The Panel on the domestic Vaccine-named TURKOVAC” was held in The Faculty of Engineering within the scope of 40th Establishment Anniversary of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University.

The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Gökhan Oto moderated the panel; the Head of Vaccine Research and Development Application and Research Centre and the lecturer of The Department of Medical Microbiology, The Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli, who developed the first domestic vaccine-named TURKOVAC with the support of TÜSEB, and the member of Science Committee from Hacettepe University Prof. Dr. Serhat Ünal, and also Dr. Musa Alkan from TÜSEB – Turkish Vaccine Institute attended the panel.   

Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli gave information about the preclinic studies of domestic vaccine-named TURKOVAC, Dr. Serhat Ünal talked about the clinic studies of the vaccine and Dr. Musa Alkan informed the participants on the vaccine’s transition processes to industrial production in the panel where the Rector of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli and the lecturers attended. Reminding TURKOVAC is a milestone, Dr. Musa Alkan emphasized that after 25 years, a domestic and national vaccine was manufactured for the first time.
