TÜSEB and Syrian Delegation Convene for Healthcare Collaboration.

Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB) hosted the Syrian Minister of Health and accompanying delegation at Aziz Sancar Research Centre (ASAM), Ankara on June 18, 2025.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan, President of TÜSEB; Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara, Head of Türkiye Vaccine Institute; Prof. Dr. F. Duygu Özel Demiralp, Head of Türkiye Biotechnology Institute; Ahmet Zengin, Secretary General of TÜSEB; Dr. Aziz Alper Biten, Director General of European Union and Foreign Relations at Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye; Dr. Celal Orhun Ecemiş, Head of the Americas, Africa, and Middle East Department at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye; Engin Uçar, Head of ASAM Support Services Unit at TÜSEB; and Sezin Ünal, Administrative Staff from Foreign Affairs Department.

During the visit, the Biobank and Genome laboratories within Türkiye Biotechnology Institute and the research areas of Türkiye Vaccine Institute were introduced. Information was also provided regarding TÜSEB's structure, fields of activity, and institutional capacity.

The Syrian delegation expressed their desire to collaborate with TÜSEB for technical and strategic support.

The parties reached a consensus on conducting joint work in the field of health. President of TÜSEB Prof. Dr. Ümit Kervan stated that they are open to all cooperation requests and ready to offer every kind of support.

Following the meeting, a brief interview was conducted by Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) with President of TÜSEB Prof. Dr. Ümit KERVAN, Syrian Minister of Health Dr. Musaab Nizal EL-ALI, and Director General of European Union and Foreign Affairs Dr. Aziz Alper BITEN.
