Clinical research may be defined as the entire research performed with the volunteers and the development of new treatment methods againts diseases, and enabling the molecules that will become a candidate for the drug to come onto the market through certain stage. The purpose of the research is to prove that new drug and medical devices which will be brought into use for the people are efficient and reliable.the compliance with international standards of clinical research carried out in our country are monitored by Minister of Health. Clinical research is conducted by the permission of Ministry of Healthand by the approval of Ethics Committees approved bu Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Administrations of Turkey.

Clinical research matters interms of presenting new drugs, medical devices and developed treatment methods to the service of patients. Clinical research aims to deliver drug or treatment methods developed  by using current technologies to patients in a timely manner as well as provide the patients much better treatment opportunities. Accordingly, TUSEB supports the clinical research and the components of such studies in order to bring patients together with innovative treatments.

within the framework of the 11th Development Plan, it is estimared to make Turkey a leading country, to include clinical research in R & D activities, to raise the awareness on clinical research. It is also planned that in accordance with the targets designated in the 11th Development Plan, the number and quality of clinical research in Turkey with the authorization of TUSEB. Within this scope, clinical research centre established within TUSEB aims to increase clinical research market share in our country.It will be provided the researchers who want to conduct clinical research will be directed to the institutions where they will carry out theirstudies, and the studies will be supported and pursued under the umbrella of TUSEB. Within this Scope, TUSEB, if required, will support the management of budget and site permission processes inthe field of clinical research, protocol writing, processes of ethics committee, processes of legislation /approval / permissiion. In addition to these processes, the centre also aims to obtain patient datasets which will informand guide clinical research stakeholders.

another main target of Clinical Research Centreis to raise awareness on clinical research, and to perform such studies which will enable the clinical research potential in Turkey to be recognized in the national and international platforms. In this context, the studies will be carried out in order to raise awareness of public as well as medical personnel in the centres where clinical research will be performed. It will be provided that clinical researchcan be carried out in different cities by encouraging the researchers to use the infrastructure developed in city hospitals, private hospitals, university hospitals and training and research hospitals.

TUSEB will act as an umbrella organization regardless of financial interest. The activities planned within the Centre are as follows:

• The Sponsor (the organization, institution promoted the study), centre (where clinical research will be conducted), researchers, CRO (Contracted Research Organization) and SMOs (site Management Organization) which have roles inthe processes of clinical research will be integrated to TUSEB Clinical Research Centre.
• The researchers assigned in the study will be coordinated and followed up with the studies and reports.
• The applici-ations to Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Administration of Turkey and ethics committee activities will be coordinated and followed.
• During the process of ethics committee application, follow-up and coordination, studies will be conducted.
• Small companies will be provided opportunities to develop while problems of large-scale companies which conduct clinical research are tried to be solved.
