TÜSEB Hosts Discussions with the African Scientific, Research and Innovation Council (ASRIC) on Cooperation in Health Sciences and Innovation

The Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB) hosted a delegation from the African Scientific, Research and Innovation Council (ASRIC) at the TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Research Center on 19 August 2026. The meeting focused on potential areas of cooperation between Türkiye and African countries in health sciences, scientific research and innovation.

Chaired by TÜSEB Vice President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ayar, the meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara, President of the Turkish Vaccine Institute, along with representatives from TÜSEB’s other institutes. During the meeting, both sides exchanged information on the institutional structures, ongoing activities and existing capacities of TÜSEB and ASRIC.

The discussions addressed potential opportunities for joint initiatives in a range of fields, particularly health technologies and digital health, biotechnology, genomics, vaccine research and cancer research. Opportunities for cooperation in the development of joint research activities, technology transfer, strengthening research capacity and enhancing researcher mobility were also explored.

The meeting also included discussions on advancing cooperation between the two institutions through technical-level engagement, joint activities and concrete follow-up actions.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on fostering sustainable cooperation between Türkiye and African countries in the fields of health sciences, research, innovation and clinical research.
