Being held on 12 June 2023, in İstanbul, “TÜSEB TTO Workshop on Cooperation from Idea to Product” was attended by President of TÜSEB Prof. Erhan AKDOĞAN, Assistant to TÜSEB President and Director of Türkiye Biotechnology Institute Prof. Rabia ÇAKIR KOÇ, Assistant to TÜSEB President and Director of Türkiye Health Data Research and Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute Prof. Songül VARLI, Director of Türkiye Cancer Institute Assoc. Prof. Burcu YÜCEL, Director of Türkiye Vaccine Institute Prof. Ateş KARA, Head of TÜSEB Project Management and Support Department Batuhan YEŞİLYURT, Manager of TÜSEB Technology Transfer Office Dr. Lec. Rizvan İMAMOĞLU, and TÜSEB TTO Lecturers Assoc. Prof. Yeliz DOĞAN MERİH, Assoc. Prof. Aliihsan KOCA, Dr. Lec. Mehmet Emin AKTAN.   

The workshop was attended by Rector of Istanbul Technical University Prof. İsmail KOYUNCU and Assistant to Rector Prof. Ali DENİZ, Head of Medical Device Notified Body and Clinical Research Department, Türkiye Medicines and Medical Devices Agency Fatih TOPUZ. The participants were informed on “TÜSEB During Transformation Process from Idea to Product in Health” by Prof. Erhan AKDOĞAN, “TÜSEB Project Supports” by Head of Project Management and Support Department Batuhan YEŞİLYURT, “Promotion of TÜSEB TTO” by Assistant Manager of TÜSEB TTO Dr. Lec. Rizvan İMAMOĞLU.   

Prof. Erhan AKDOĞAN, who delivered the opening speeches at the workshop, stated that the importance of localization and commercialization in the process from idea to product, that there is a very serious potential in health, and that the process will be managed successfully with fast support mechanisms. In this context, he emphasized the necessity of public-university-industry cooperation studies. Rector of Istanbul Technical University Prof. Dr. İsmail KOYUNCU expressed his belief that the health sector is an interdisciplinary field, that all stakeholders should be worked together, and that this workshop, held in this context, will strengthen the interaction between medicine and engineering sciences. KOYUNCU also emphasized that they are pleased that TUSEB is a pioneering institution in this field and that our dialogue will always be strong thanks to our cooperation.

Head of Medical Device Notified Body and Clinical Research Department, Türkiye Medicines and Medical Devices Agency Fatih TOPUZ informed the participants and ITU academicians on the process with presentation of “Medical Devices on the Market and Requirements”. Afterwards, academicians at Istanbul Technical University made presentations about the projects they carried out under the titles of medical devices, medical imaging and medical drugs and materials.
